The Army Rugby League Begin Challenge To Take Back Title
This week sees the start of this seasons inter service rugby league challenge. The main competition will start this Wednesday at Aldershot Stadium at 1900 hours when the two first teams clash in their attempts to wrest back the trophy taken by the Navy last year. The competion will begin on Tuesday evening with the now traditional veterans game, which this year will hopefully see the first games against a Navy vets side.
On the Wednesday there will be the usual appetiser of both the ladies and the academy followed by the clash of the first teams. With both teams still hurting from not taking the title last year should make this a game worth waiting for.
Performance Director and ex head coach Sean Fanning is hoping for a hard fought and close competition this year with the army taking the spoils. He quotes if we get the right weather we can not only have cracking games of rugby but hopefully supporters will be out in force and be able to participate in the hospitalities offered by the Soldiers League and raise more money for their chosen charities.
